SingularityNET’s New Home in Switzerland — A Step Forward in Innovation and Decentralization

As a value-based non-profit organization, SingularityNET rests upon the commitment to create decentralized, democratic, inclusive, and beneficial Artificial General Intelligence capable of solving the pressing problems we face today and achieving broadly shared prosperity in our world.
This is why we have always taken the long view by considering the full impact of our technology on society and grounding our strategies and business decisions in foundational values that endure through decades of technological and societal change.
In this spirit, we have recently relocated our Foundation from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Zug, Switzerland, the heart of the Swiss Crypto Valley. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, strategic location, and progressive Web3 regulatory landscape, Switzerland provides the ideal breeding ground to further our decentralization and actively put our values of decentralization, benevolence, democracy, and inclusiveness into action across the organization.
This marks a pivotal step in aligning our operational ethos with our foundational principles of decentralization and democratic values, and it allows us to ensure that the decentralized and democratic values inherent in our AI technology are reflected in SingularityNET’s governance structure.
Why Switzerland?
Zug, Switzerland is known for its crypto-friendly environment, clear regulations, and thriving blockchain scene. Its crypto-friendly regulatory framework and secure business setting are both important factors in SingularityNET’s growth and decision-making processes.
The Swiss Crypto Valley is renowned for being a hub of blockchain and cryptocurrency innovation, hosting over 1,600 blockchain-based projects, including major players like Cardano, Ethereum, Polkadot, and Tezos.
We’re proud to be joining such an ecosystem supportive of our vision, located close to our partners in the Web3 space, as well as having the opportunity to position ourselves at the intersection of blockchain progress and AI innovation, further enriching the already vibrant Zug community. The Zug-based Foundation will replace the association previously based in the Netherlands.
We want to express our deep appreciation for the Netherlands, which has been a wonderful home for SingularityNET, fostering our early stages and contributing significantly to our journey. The Dutch environment, with its own strengths and unique offerings, played a fundamental role in our development over the years.
However, our move to Switzerland is a strategic decision aimed at leveraging the advantages that Zug offers. It’s a step towards aligning more closely with environments that offer enhanced opportunities for growth, innovation, and ultimately, the development of benevolent AGI. We believe this move will benefit not just SingularityNET, but our entire ecosystem and community due to the favorable business environment and supportive regulatory framework that Switzerland provides.
Our CEO, Dr. Ben Goertzel, highlighted the importance of the Swiss presence in supporting the ecosystem’s growth and fostering new developments in AI:

The strategic shift to the Swiss milieu goes way beyond a geographical change. It represents the next step in our commitment to responsible innovation, collaboration, and expansion, and we couldn’t be more excited about the prospects now in store for us; in a much more supportive, innovation-friendly setting that will allow us a clearer path to fulfilling our vision.
While we hold our time in the Netherlands in high regard, we are excited about our new chapter in Switzerland.
