SingularityNET Tech Update 4.0

Accelerating enterprise traction is being met with exciting development milestones.

2018 will be a pivotal year for SingularityNET. In January alone, we closed several groundbreaking partnerships that target large and growing industries.

While we’ve enjoyed significant success with enterprise, government, and institutional outreach (augmented by our presentation at the World Economic Forum), we wanted to update the community on the many development milestones that have been reached. This will be the first of many exciting developer updates in the weeks and months to come.

1. Development & Outreach Are Gaining Momentum

Our tech team has been working hard to reach our primary goal of releasing a fully-scalable version of the SingularityNET platform later this year. Judging by our development success and customer demand thus far, we are more confident than ever in the impact SingularityNET can have on the future of AI and humanity.

Already, the SingularityNET Alpha network has been deployed on the Kovan test network, and can be accessed at https://agent.singularitynet.io. We will be working quickly to augment its nascent capabilities, finding additional ways to increase the utility of the AGI token.

2. Reputation System

We have also been building our Agent reputation system. This is a key component of the SingularityNET marketplace, as reputation will be the primary means through which new customers will identify and select AI service providers on the platform. The reputation system must thus reward Agents that consistently deliver good results in a timely manner while also allowing for new, high-quality Agents to surface and attract a customer base.

The reputation system will be based on ratings provided after services are
delivered as well as Agent curation by staking, as outlined in our whitepaper. The design will be blockchain technology-agnostic, preserving our architectural flexibility.

We are designing the reputation system to be sufficiently resilient
against attack and abuse patterns. This will allow us to turn it into the kernel of a new consensus paradigm, proof of reputation, inspired by NEM’s proof of importance, and described here:

Proof of reputation is a long term milestone, however. Before our design is
robust enough to be used as the keystone of a new consensus algorithm, we will enable others to contribute reputation system designs of their own, and deploy those as reputation agencies running on the SingularityNET platform. We believe decentralizing reputation design in this way will greatly reduce the avenues and incentives for gaming the system, thus fostering a more robust economy.

3. Network Simulations

In a related effort, a team of our research scientists is designing an
agent-based model of the SingularityNET network, featuring a heterogeneous
population of mock agents. Simulations runing on this network model will allow us to better understand and tune various key parameters of the SingularityNET microeconomic logic.

The network model will also be helpful in tuning the reputation system,
designing machine learning approaches to detect reputation attacks and cheats, and making the overall network more secure and robust against various kinds of vulnerabilities.

4. More Updates Are Just Around the Corner

The SingularityNET leadership and tech team are currently collaborating on the technology roadmap for 2018. Soon, we’ll share more initiatives and goals, including deeper OpenCog integration with the Agent framework, research projects aimed at introducing offer networks in addition to token-based economics, formally verifiable smart contracts, and tooling to make it easier for people to integrate their AI technology and automatically deploy the resulting services as Agents in the platform.

All of this will be developed in the open: code will be open source, and
research projects will periodically release technical reports and discuss
results and next steps with the community. Better tools to enable community
participation are coming soon.
